Director of Fitness – South Florida

Are you passionate about fitness and ready to take your career to the next level? Our client is searching for a dynamic Director of Fitness to lead their state-of-the-art fitness center in the vibrant city of Miami.

Located in the heart of Miami, our client’s fitness center offers a plethora of exercise options, including cutting-edge cardiovascular equipment, Pilates reformer machines, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) programs designed to challenge even the most seasoned athletes. But it’s more than just a gym—it’s a hub for learning about the transformative power of targeted fitness programs and their impact on overall wellness.

As the Director of Fitness, you’ll be the face of our client’s fitness staff, responsible for:

  • Managing fitness staff and processes to ensure a safe, practical, enjoyable, and educational exercise experience for our guests.
  • Leading fitness classes and lectures regularly, engaging with our diverse audience.
  • Spearheading new programming initiatives to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
  • Efficiently managing the fitness staff through scheduling, reporting, coaching, training, recognition, and complaint resolution.

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  1. B.S. in Exercise Science or related Health Science degree REQUIRED. M.S. preferred.
  2. At least 5 year experience in a Leadership role at a fitness facility which services high-end clientele.
  3. Expertise in Exercise Science/Physiology, serving as a trusted resource for our guests.
  4. Confidence in presenting to large audiences, embodying the essence of our brand.
  5. Advanced degrees and multiple certifications—a Master Trainer or the potential to become one within the first year.
  6. Experience in leading highly qualified teams, with a focus on nurturing talent.
  7. A track record of delivering high-end customer experiences in esteemed fitness establishments like boutique training facilities, Equinox, Lifetime, or major athletic clubs.
  8. Proficiency in benchmark testing techniques such as RMR, VO2 Max, DEXA Biomechanical Analysis, FMS, and more.

Compensation:

  • Base salary- $85-$90K/year
  • Commission- percentage of services provided by employee, plus percentage of total fitness department services provided, plus retail commission
  • Potential earnings between $20K-$30K/year on commissions
  • Variable compensation of up to 10% of base pay
