National Aquatics Director (can be based out of Houston, TX; CO; OR; or CA)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of the home club’s Aquatics Director, this position helps carry out the brand promise, service vision and core values of our client’s facility. 

The National Aquatics Director (NAQD) brings to life a high-performance culture that develops, empowers and recognizes great employees and delivers five-star service and immaculately clean and safe facilities in the Aquatics departments at all our client’s clubs. 

This position ensures company standards and best practices are implemented and adopted, and oversees the overall operational and financial management of the Aquatics departments.  This position supervises the Aquatics Directors on a dotted line basis, assisting OGMs with hiring, onboarding and operational guidance.  The NAQD develops and implements best-in-class programming for Aquatics.  This person is provided with general supervision by the VP of Operations and will need to be organized, self-motivated, resourceful, and able to successfully handle multiple concurrent projects and assignments with minimal direct supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES (JOB SPECIFIC):

  • Lead the aquatics risk management program; stay current with best practices, evaluate training needs, and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Assist OGMs with interviewing and hiring Aquatics Directors and Swim Coaches.
  • Monitor hiring of guards and swim instructors, take action as needed.
  • Regularly evaluate Aquatics leadership staff performance, discuss with OGMs and jointly acknowledge, coach and manage.
  • Assist in onboarding new department Directors and Swim Coaches.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and mentorship on a dotted line basis to reach monthly and annual financial goals, as well as department best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Operations in high-end, resort-style, family-oriented aquatics facilities (club, hospitality or similar industries) preferred
  • Knowledge of present successful industry aquatics program trends and programs
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
  • Must be certified as Starfish Instructor, Water Safety Instructor or equivalent
  • Must be certified as Certified Pool Operator
  • American Red Cross Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard Certification preferred
  • Familiarity with POS, CRM and Program Management Software Systems required
  • Budgeting and analysis skills
