General Manager, Washtenaw County – Michigan

We are currently seeking a General Manager to lead our client’s cutting-edge, 110,000-square-foot facility in Washtenaw County, MI, which offers a diverse range of fitness equipment, programs, and activities for adults and children. This facility boasts six areas for strength training and cardio exercises, an indoor track, and a basketball court. The strength training areas feature top-of-the-line equipment from renowned brands such as Life Fitness, FreeMotion, and Nautilus Nitro®. The ideal candidate will possess excellent sales and club operations skills, be a liaison between staff and members, exhibit a forward-thinking mindset, and have strong business acumen and communication skills – both written and verbal.

Compensation Base$90K – $110K, plus upside & benefits, and a relocation allowance.

As General Manager, you will play a crucial role in creating a secure and pleasant atmosphere for members and guests, while also upholding standards of professionalism and teamwork that go above and beyond expectations. The ideal candidate will be a skilled leader, possessing exceptional communication abilities and a talent for providing innovative and creative direction. A key focus of this role is to lead by example and steer the business toward a progressive, purpose-driven direction that prioritizes the development and growth of both employees and members and includes driving profitability and moving the club in the right direction, thereby ensuring the continued success of the company.  

Requirements:

To qualify, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and possess a minimum of 3-5 years of General Manager experience in a large, family-oriented commercial club setting. Experience in programming is also helpful, as the GM will be responsible for supporting new software implementations and training team members. Our client is also committed to supporting the community through a variety of giving initiatives, so experience in both community relations and community outreach is beneficial as well.
